WHO HAS MADE MY EARTH SICK? BHG – Talk 16: Stealing natural capital

On the last day of the World Economic Forum in Davos participants were standing near sick Earth’s bed. Among them were kings, queens, dictators, presidents, prime ministers and tribal chiefs, and also the powerful CEOs of research institutions, industrial and commercial enterprises, financial institutions, banks, and super-rich technology and artificial intelligence investors. Evidently, they talked among themselves about their commercial and military deals. Earth and Grete watched them wondering why these people were hugging each other and bowing to the kings and queens. Evidently, they looked satisfied with the deals they had made. The military men looked superbly happy. Were they expressing their joy for Earth’s impending demise?

Curious Greta asked Earth, “Correct me if I’m wrong. Are they happily indicating to you that they have saved you?”

Earth did not reply, feeling hopeless. Grete asked her, “How did they become kings and queens, and so rich?”

“By fighting and winning wars or elections, or both,” Earth promptly replied.

“That costs a lot of money, material and lives. How did they get all that?”

“Rulers got money from financial institutions, traders and manufacturing enterprises. I can name a few: the Hanseatic League, British East India Company, Santa Hermandad, General Electric, Boeing, Morgan, Bloomberg, Microsoft, Tata and Amazon to name a few. You will laugh when I tell you that they consider the White House a branch of Goldman Sachs.”

“Did the rulers return the money?”

“Yes. From taxes they levied on people.”

“Then there were no more wars,” concluded Grete.

“The wars left people poor. The tax money they collected was not enough. So they fought more wars financed by the same and other institutions.”

Grete deduced, “So the wars became bigger and bigger, costing astronomical amounts of resources, money and the lives of BHG, including the good ones.”

“You guessed right.”

“Don’t tell me that they are not meeting here to look after you, but for raising more funds for financing human activities and wars? They look so gentle and not at all war-like. From where they get their additional money?”

“They take it from me.” Earth replied.

“I’m amazed. They steal it from your nature-capital. You have been so generous and loving. Have you ever checked what is left in your stock of provisions?”

“Yes, but only recently. I was happy and unconcerned for a long period when all living beings obeyed the laws of nature. In return, my bounteous nature opened its treasures to them. Then appeared the two-legged and big-headed Homo sapiens, proclaiming to be wise. But in no time at all they mutated into nasty BHG and everything changed. They converted nature-capital into money capital. The so called “wise man” heavily filled with I-ness became extremely anthropocentric. Having drained nearly all my energy and sucked my blood they have infected it. Only a few like you see how seriously sick I am.”

Grete dried her tears and said, “I’ll give my life in order to make you well again. But I need to learn more from you. I’ll come early tomorrow. I’ll be thinking of you. Rest well.”
