What is Granthophilia?

What is Granthophilia? The idea of of GRANTHOPHILIA is as old as the Christian Bible. Many Christian are still bibliophiles, who love the Bible dearly and have total faith in it. They believe that just reading it or any part of it randomly, without even understanding it, can solve all problems and enlighten them. The population of bibliophiles has dopped significantly over the centuries. Sikhs have the Guru Granth which translates Book-Guru . Their love for the physical Book-guru is more passionate than the Hindu love of idols of their gods and goddess, or the Christian faith in the Bible or the Muslim fidelity to the Koran. Sikhs are an epitome of granthophilia, blind love for the Book. They love it more than they love a living guru. No one can beat them. Unlike the Bible and the Koran, Book-guru is a living embodiment of the gurus. Its devotees have infallible faith in the miraculous power of Book-guru: merely seeing Him is enough. Boundless is their granthophilia, astounding their devotion. Gurdwaras burgeoning everywhere perpetuate granthophilia, elevating the Book-guru above God. He is All-knowing Maharajah and Patshah, Emperor. They seek Book-guru’s permission to start every ceremony: social, religious, commercial and family. Book-guru receives all donations and offerings. Poor God has lost its throne, even though Book-guru says repeatedly that whoever would equate the gurus to God would go to hell. They drape Him with hundreds of silk scarves and put Him to bed in fine under- clothes in a special room cooled or heated according to the season.
