RUNNING

Did it again!

Did it again!

On Saturday 30 November, I completed the annual Escalade 7.3 km-race in old Geneva, my 25th year. Three rounds on mostly hilly cobble-stone streets is not easy for an old heart.

My CrossFit coach circulated the following message in French. It roughly reads:
“Well, I’m not impressed by the athlete who performs 20 Bar Muscle Ups Unbroken, or one who lifts triple his/her own weight in Back Squats. I am irretrievably attracted by people who fight, by those who do not give up despite the pain, age, problems, criticisms, whatever the result. By those who believe in themselves and who manage to pass this flame on to those around them, one person at a time. We are all capable of doing extraordinary things, but at the beginning we have to believe in them. Believe in yourself, it’s never too late to get better. Congratulations Naginder for your example, Céline to pass on the flame, congratulations to all those who have surpassed themselves for this Escalade race. We’ll see each other soon to continue the adventure”.

This time I was really slow. That earned me the loudest applause. The huge crowd had no body else to applaud because all others had overtaken me. So I got all the glory!
